Exercise makes you feel good, no matter who you are. You just can't help but smile when hooping; it brings out your inner child. Sometimes we forget one of our most natural states---playfulness.
Life shouldn't always be so serious. That's where the hula hoop comes in (but believe me, many of us have managed to get very serious about hula hoops)!
The American Council on Exercise says that hula hooping generally burns up to 400 calories for every hour of exercise (that's as effective as running on the clorie-o-meter). It is an aerobic exercise considered very low-impact, and it helps to strengthen your spine, and core. Moving with a hoop aids in realigning your chakras all while improving balance.
Circles and spirals are found in nature everywhere, so it only makes sense that we move our hips to health within this infinite shape.
Although hooping may look like it isn't physically demanding, it is an effective and safe way to work out. And the best thing about it, is that you can tailor your body's needs with hooping. You can work your arms, your chest, your stomach, legs---whatever you chose! Or you can get creative and learn different ways to dance with the hoop. Not only do you get a great full-body workout, but you will enter a meditative state when you learn to flow.
